The Challenge

NMN has steadily gained traction for being a favorable anti-aging health product but continues to receive a lot of scrutiny in the country with the FDA. In fact, one of the largest sellers of NMN in the world lost their credit card processing abilities through PayPal due to their sales of NMN. This merchant was in considerable trouble after losing their processing through PayPal, Stripe, and even the Square platform. Black Friday was coming up and they could no longer sell during this significantly large shopping event. This seller also offered monthly subscriptions through PayPal, leading to hundreds of thousands of dollars that could no longer be billed. On top of that, PayPal also had a hold on their money, so the NMN-selling company could not withdraw any money collected from additional website orders and subscriptions.

Relevant Health’s Solution

Relevant Health was contacted by the CEO of this merchant company because they needed an immediate processing opportunity. This jarring block had put a hold on the business, and he couldn’t afford to lose any more revenue. The CEO had until the end of the next week to be able to figure out a solution. Our founder quickly got to work to see what could be done. We vetted multiple banks, but to no avail, as certain tools like Legit Script (a newer tool that payment processing platforms are using) kept flagging the merchant’s product as a “potential prescription”. While this couldn’t be farther from the truth, it was causing a massive obstacle to our efforts. 

Relevant Health’s CEO has a large amount of experience in processing supplements, due to his past time working as a high-risk merchant himself. By reaching out to one of his best contacts and explaining what NMN is, we were able to back our position with a letter from a regulatory attorney explaining to banks what NMN was, as well as its current legalities. NMN of course is a legal substance that many big brands sell. 

Through this letter, Relevant Health was able to connect with a bank that was completely ok with NMN.  At Relevant Health, we save merchants from headaches like these and focus on our goal of reliable long-term processing.
